Customer Questions
Are the boards foiled on both sides?
Yes all of the XR4000, GA4000 and TB4000 boards are foiled on both sides
Can I cut these?
Yes you can, with a standard insulation saw. the PIR boards usually have cutting squares on them to help
What is the m2 coverage per board?
Most of the standard PIR boards are 2.88m2 please refer to the product information for more information
Can you carpet directly on top of PIR
Hello, we would recommend putting a flooring grade chipboard down over the Celotex before carpeting.
Do I need to use membranes when installing PIR below a concrete slab or screed?
Ensure that the PIR insulation boards are laid above the damp proof membrane (DPM). The foil facings of PIR insulation boards may be damaged by wet screed or wet concrete, allowing gas to escape that may weaken the floor topping, so its recommended that...
How should PIR products be stored?
PIR insulation boards should be stored in their original packaging if available, protected from the weather and clear of the ground.
Can PIR insulation boards be used directly below flooring tiles?
No, PIR insulation boards should not be used directly below flooring tiles, a suitable substrate such as screed should be used to distribute the load and prevent movement and cracking of the tiles.
What membranes are required in flooring application when using PIR insulation boards?
For installation on a concrete slab it is recommended that a damp proof membrane is installed below the insulation and then an additional vapour control / separating layer above the insulation before the screed / floating floor finish.
What is the difference between a U-value and an R-value?
U-values take into account all elements of a construction, including thermal bridges. They can only be worked out by calculation, usually done by the manfacturer or contractors. The R-value, or thermal resistance, is a measure of the insulation board...
What is the coverage of 1 of these boards?
Hello, the Standard PIR boards are 1.2x2.4 meters, giving you a coverage of 2.88m2
