What is a passive fire protection system?
A passive fire protection system describes different measures that are taken to impede the spread of a fire or smoke should it occur. It is described as being passive because no activation is required for it to work.

Are Promat boards waterproof?
While Promat specialises in fire protection products, many products do offer resistance to moisture too. For example, both the Promat Masterboard and Supalux fire protection boards are resistant to the effects of moisture, so they will not physically deteriorate when used in damp or humid conditions.
What is Promat Masterboard used for?
Promat Masterboard is one of the most popular products in the Promat range here at Insulation Express. It is a calcium silicate board reinforced with selected fibres and fillers.
The board itself is highly resistant to moisture so can be used in damp or humid conditions. Likewise, it can withstand temperature changes up to 80°C and provides up to 30 minutes of fire resistance. As a result, it’s suitable for use in the following applications:
