What is Kingspan?
Kingspan is a well-known manufacturer of insulation boards. The brand develops a range of products for use on roofs, floors and cavity walls, with specialist insulation products available for more niche applications. Kingspan insulation boards are popular throughout the world.
What is Kingspan made of?
Most Kingspan insulation products feature a fibre-free, thermoset foam core. To create this core, a wet foam insulation mix is added to a single layer of facing. The foam then expands to meet the top layer of facing, which essentially creates a sandwiched foam core. The foam is hardened under pressure to finish.
There are some variants within the range, such as the Kingspan GreenGuard boards, which are created using an extruded polystyrene insulant. You can find more information about your chosen Kingspan insulation on our product pages.
Is Kingspan good insulation?
Kingspan is widely regarded as one of the leading insulation brands throughout the world. The efficiency of its insulation products can sometimes mean less is required to meet the same u-values than what would be required with competitor products, although this should be assessed on a project-by-project basis.
How do I cut Kingspan insulation boards?
In most instances, Kingspan insulation boards can be cut using a handsaw. Simply mark on the board where you need to cut, place it on a flat and stable surface and begin to cut using the saw. Doing so can get dusty, so we recommend sawing the boards outside if possible.
Which types of Kingspan insulation are available at Insulation Express?
At Insulation Express, you’ll find three main types of Kingspan insulation: Therma, Kooltherm, and GreenGuard. Therma insulation boards are Kingspan’s popular high-performance insulation boards, complete with a fibre-free core.
Kooltherm is Kingspan’s very thin, hard foam insulation board designed to free up space in constructions with smaller dimensions. Despite its thinner construction, the boards still offer very impressive insulating properties, often out-performing competitors in terms of thermal performance.
Kingspan GreenGuard insulation is a popular choice for more specialist applications, such as in inverted roofs, basements, car park decks, and commercial and industrial flooring. It is designed to withstand high compressive stress, which makes it perfect for heavy-duty use.
