Gyproc is a leading brand of plasterboard and wallboards. Owned by parent company Saint-Gobain, Gyproc is one of the group’s four brands: Gyproc, Placo, Rigips and British Gypsum.
Is Gyproc the same as drywall?
Gyproc is a manufacturer of drywall products, specifically wallboards and plasterboards. Due to the popularity of their products, many people simply refer to drywall boards as Gyproc.
What is Gyproc made of?
Gyproc plasterboards and wallboards have a core of gypsum sandwiched between recycled paper to give a smooth finish. Gypsum is a soft sulfate mineral composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate. It is used in drywall products thanks to its affordability, fire-resistance and sound-insulating properties.
Is Gyproc waterproof?
Not all Gyproc plaster- and wallboards are waterproof. However, the brand has developed the Gyproc Moisture Resistant Board to achieve H1 water absorption according to EN 520. This means it can be used in areas of high humidity, such as kitchens or bathrooms, with little worry about higher moisture levels causing damage.
